These posts were created to attend to specific functions as Controlling Authorities under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 and Inspectors under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965.
At present these officers are attending to the following functions:
- Controlling Authorities under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972.
- Authorities to hear claims under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Payment of Subsistence Allowance Act, 1981.
- Registration Officers under the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970.
- Conciliation Officers under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 in their respective jurisdiction.
- Inspectors under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965.
- Inspectors under the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1972.
- Inspectors under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986.
These officers are also assisting the Regional Deputy Commissioners of Labour in their administrative functions.
